There are roughly 6.8 billion people living on earth and an estimated 9 billion by 2050 (UN). If currently earth’s carrying capacity is started to break, as evidenced by the negative affects of climate change; severe storms, collapsed fisheries, etc. The question is how will society live with another 3 billion people occupying the same earth?

The California Building Standards Commission Announced the Nation's First Green Building Standards Code which became effective August 1, 2009. The new codes aim to increase energy efficiency, improve indoor air quality, material conservation, water efficiency, and resource efficiency. In 1978 President Jimmy Carter told Americans that the energy crisis was "a clear and present danger to our nation," Since then there have been regulatory agencies put in place along with legislation to encourage energy conservation.
