Jon Dougal

Jon Dougal, Director of Sustainability 

Jon R. Dougal serves on many green organizations: as Secretary to the Board of Directors for GreenMotion.org; current executive director for the Solar Energy Council of the Inland Empire; as an Advisor to the Board for the Sustainable Furniture Council, and the previous advisor of the USGBC-Inland Empire Chapter.  As a writer and publisher, he  produces  www.GreenLinkup.com , www.Talkfloor.com, and GreenInsight from GreenMotion’s website.  These publications reach 300k subscribers in 21 countries.  Covering “Green Building, Natural Products, and Sustainable Living” these eNewsLetters span all emerging topics, technologies, processes, and techniques needed by both professionals, government officials, agriculturalists, biofuel producers, and home owners in addressing climate change.  As a public speaker, tradeshow director, and teacher of sustainable development technologies, he has presented at the ASID National Conference in New Orleans on the “Future of Sustainable Materials”, and at the Santa Fe – New Mexico Home Builders Association on green real estate.  His courses on Sustainable Marketing and Green Real Estate are given at Boston Architectural College and at the University of California, Riverside.

Amelia Herdon

Amelia Herdon, Landscape Architect, LEED AP


Amelia Herdon is a licensed Landscape Architect and accredited LEED Professional. Over the last 12 years she has shown great dedication to specialty garden and landscape architecture projects throughout California. For the last 8 years she has been working on sustainable municipal parks and streetscape projects in and around the Southern California Region. A few of her notable works include the Palos Verdes Civic Center Park, Las Flores River Park in Malibu, CPRS Award Winner Sycamore Highlands Park in Riverside, Riverside DMV Certified LEED Silver, and Riverwalk Park Multi Use Trail in the Jurupa Community Services District. She is the recent founder of re-Think Design Landscape Architecture and Green Site Planning.  She received her bachelors of science from UC Davis and is currently working on her Master's in Regenerative Studies at Cal Poly Pomona.

Bill Warkentin

Bill Warkentin, Architect

In 1979, Mr. Warkentin established his own architectural practice to focus on residential design, especially in the area of high-density infill housing.  Since then the practice has expanded its interests to include affordable housing, live-work housing concepts, community design, and a continuing involvement in the creation of master planned communities employing sustainable land use concepts.  Paralleling his involvement in housing during the '80s and '90s was an expanding interest in recreation projects, particularly those that included a residential component.  The practice has grown to encompass community planning of large scale master planned communities, hillside communities, golf course communities, village and new town plans, commercial districts, and affordable housing.  Between 1997 and 2003, the studio consulted the Riverside County BIA on the Riverside County Integrated Project and contributed content to both policy and implementation programs as well as review and commentary of the General Plan’s various elements.  Mr. Warkentin has been the principal author of the Incentive Program, a density bonus approach to bringing more compact development and higher density housing to unincorporated Riverside County.

Andrew WalckerAndrew Walcker, Civil Engineer

Mr. Walcker has over 14 years of successful and responsible experience in design and project management for various commercial, public works, and residential projects in IW Consulting Engineers.  Also as principal, he will be responsible for overall management, guidance of projects, and overseeing designs and productions.  His background includes various designs of land development projects and project management.  Mr. Walcker has experience working with different agencies in the County and City of Riverside, County of San Bernardino, County of San Diego, and County of Orange along with managing Federal Projects.  He has held positions as Project Manager in Armstrong and Brooks Engineering and as Vice President of Land Development Consultants.

Steve JohnsonSteve Johnson, P.E.- Senior Mechanical Engineer

Since his start with the Design West Engineering in 2003, Steve has successfully managed a wide variety of projects for the company.  He is characterized by an extreme resourcefulness and comprehensive knowledge of the industry coupled with a dedicated service to company clients.  A few notable accomplishments include managing the energy modernization work for Saddleback Community College and West Covina Unified School District.  Steve’s grasp of mechanical systems along with the ability to solve complex, unique challenges makes him ideal for managing the Mechanical Department.  Steve holds a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and a California P.E. License in Mechanical Engineering. 

 

 

 

Joshua MasseyJoshua Massey, LEED AP- Project Manager

Josh joined Design West Engineering in 2002 and since has successfully managed projects for numerous high-profile clients.  He is a LEED AP and his experience and dedication has helped drive the firm’s work with clients like California Baptist University and ESRI.  He is focused on applying cost effective sustainable solutions which reduce a project’s overall operating cost and environmental footprint.  His professional experience includes projects for schools, large auditoriums, recording studios, theme park attractions as well as commercial, medical and industrial facilities.  He has extensive experience in chilled and hot water central plant design, energy analysis, steam plant design, heat load analysis, duct and piping system design, and equipment selection and layout.

 

                                    

Jeff TrueblodJeff Trueblod, P.E. Senior Electrical Engineer

Jeff joined Design West Engineering in 2004 to head up the Electrical Department.  With over a decade of prior industry experience as a professional engineer, Jeff brings a diverse background in commercial and municipal projects.  Additionally, Jeff is a recognized member of the IES (Illumination Engineering Society) and a Board Member of the Inland Empire Chapter.  Through IES, his designs have received the Illuminating Design Award and he is also Lighting Certified (LC) through NCQLP.  Jeff provides knowledge and practicality, and is particularly skilled with architectural lighting elements that functionally and efficiently enhance building aesthetics.  Jeff holds a B.S. Degree in Computer Science from the University of California San Diego and a California P.E. License in Electrical Engineering.

 

 

Marc Aram YahnianMarc Aram Yahnian, General Contractor Consultant

Mr. Yahnian has over 25 years of experience building from the ground up in various trades.  He has held positions of Vice President, Owner, Project Manager, Construction Manager, Chief Estimator, and field superintendent.  Mr. Yahnian has extensive knowledge in: team development, estimating, scheduling, cost analysis, contract negotiations, and risk management.  He successfully maintains project schedules, milestone completion dates, and maximizes production and profits.  He coordinates superintendents, project managers, project engineers, and the subcontractor teams to ensure timely completion of projects.  His proven tract record of timely deliveries and his ability to work in unison with staff, owners, bankers, investors, cities, counties, architects, engineers, and controllers is impressive.  Mr. Yahnian has extensive knowledge in earth work and underground electric utilities: storm drain, sewer, fire and domestic water.  Additionally, he has considerable expertise in Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), public works, MBE/WBE/DVBE, prevailing wage and Section 3 requirements.
